poweredge 2900 com port

I have a new poweredge 2900 server model ECM01. This is our first 2900. Loaded windows 2003 standard server SP1 and in device manager this system shows 2 com ports (com1 and com2). I have a pci v.92 modem installed that is running on com 3. There is only one db9 connection on the back of the server. Where is this other com port? I've even pulled the modem but com 2 remains. Com 1 and 2 on standard com ports - 3F8 IRQ 4, 2F8 IRQ 3. BIOS only shows one com port.

Any ideas regarding this additional com port?

 Thanks,

per dell support:

On the PE2900, the serial port 2 is a virtual port for IPMI functionality. IPMI, which stands for Intelligent Platform Management Interface, is used for the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) which is responsible for monitoring the health of the server and components associated with the system board of the server.  The system is functioning as designed.

with no way to turn this off if you aren't using it isn't it silly that they would put this on com port 2 by default?
